Dark Matter eLiquid
Enjoy the wonderful flavor of our latest VapeSafe eLiquid - Dark Matter.
Dark Matter tastes like German chocolate cake. For those of you who have not had the fortunate to try a piece German chocolate cake recently, this is a great way to experience the flavor without getting any of the calories. German chocolate cake is a layered cake filled and topped with a coconut-pecan frosting. Traditionally sweet baking chocolate is used for the chocolate flavor in the actual cake. The robust filling and topping is a caramel made with egg yolks and evaporated milk. Once the caramel is cooked, coconut and pecans are stirred into the mixture. Finally, rich chocolate frosting is spread around the sides of the cake to hold in the filling.
Dark Matter eLiquid by VapeSafe captures the essence of German chocolate cake. Dark Matter eLiquid delivers plumes of vapor and rich chocolatey flavor that you'll want to enjoy again and again. Try Dark Matter today!

Summary: "Romantic French musical miscellania"
I became acquainted with nearly all of these selections from the original LPs issued in the late 1960's and early 1970's. The conductor, Richard Bonynge, was and is an expert authority on what are now obscure French (and sometimes Italian) operas and the ballet sequences and various entr'actes extracted from them for this generously-filled 2 CD collection. With one or two exceptions, the sound quality is vintage Decca analog (one exception being the beginning of the short Sevillana by Jules Massenet from his opera "Don Cesar de Basan", which shows some tape wobble) and the selections, often from completely forgotten works, are tuneful and superbly played (and usually quite brief -- the longest overture is about ten minutes and the shortest dance less than two). There are overtures by Adolphe Adam, Ambroise Thomas, Luis Herold, Rossini and others. If memory serves me, this collection gathers together in one set nearly all of the various fragments that Bonynge recorded and often used as fillers for other, larger (and often better-known) works. One missing item is the delightful saxophone waltz from Leo Delibes' opera "Le Roi de Lahore", but perhaps that will show up on some future release. Highly recommended, but don't expect any major discoveries of forgotten masterpieces.

Summary: "Great forgotten French Music!"
I bought this 2-CD collection on the strength of Bonynge's reputation as a Massenet revivalist. Four of the 27 selections are by Massenet, including the famous Élégie from the incidental music to "Les Érynnies". I foolishly thought the ultra-rare, Holy-Grail-of-music-collectors entire score to "Les Érynnies" would be present on this CD. It wasn't the case, but I wasn't disappointed at all. I discovered a great number of mostly French overtures, entr'actes and isolated ballet pieces from operas by Auber, Adam, Lecocq, Thomas, Planquette, Offenbach, Delibes, Boieldieu, Meyerbeer, Gounod, Bizet, Hérold and Saint-Saëns, which are literally NEVER heard anywhere but are well worth spending three to eight minutes with. The total effect of this collection is that it is a great mood booster and shows one how "zest", "verve", "polish", "sprightliness" and "elegance" were developed to the point of an exact science by those extraordinary 19th century musicians. I find it a great source of inspiration for day-dreaming and whistling to squirrels. (They especially respond to the "Mignon" Overture, for some reason.)

Summary: "Something for everyone in this collection."
Australian conductor and musicologist Richard Bonynge is well known for his success in reclaiming and reviving rare and almost forgotten music of the C19th. Once famous ballets and operas, especially those from France and Italy, have again become accessible. Many of the operas so revived have featured his wife Dame Joan Sutherland.
On this splendid double CD are gathered together a selection of overtures and ballet music from the C19th. If you already have numerous recordings of overtures composed by Rossini and Auber, you will be sure to find here others they composed that are new to you. Indeed, smallish items like these, averaging about 8 minutes and so often recorded in the days of 78s, are under-represented in the age of CDs and DVDs. It is to the Auber overtures that I return, but you will find your own favorites here. Excellent ADD transfers come of late 60s and early 70s recordings.
